Some projects simply cannot be solved with a single piece of equipment. University campuses spanning multiple faculties, hospital complexes distributed across several buildings, or large tourist resorts with dozens of separate facilities—these are environments where voice communication must be ubiquitous, reliable, and centrally managed while simultaneously adapting to the unique needs of each specific zone.

For these scenarios, OPTIMUS has developed the IFP solution: a modular system of IP audio interfaces with integrated power. It is designed for virtually limitless growth and adaptability to the precise requirements of any installation. This architecture is engineered to address the inherent scalability challenges of large projects, offering a robust alternative where conventional solutions—and often even the more advanced ones—reach their limitations.

Modular Architecture Tailored to the Project

The core of the system is the IF-7P4ETH/0, an IP audio interface featuring four slots to house WD1/WDC series plug-in power amplifier modules. These modules are available in a wide range of power outputs (from 60 W up to 460 W RMS). This allows each interface to be configured precisely according to the requirements of the specific area, from zones requiring low power to open spaces with high acoustic demand.

Each IF-7P4ETH/0 receives up to four simultaneous IP audio channels via its Ethernet link (with dual connection for network redundancy) and can incorporate up to four configurable audio inputs. It also integrates DSP and advanced supervision functions. Every output zone features connections for A/B loudspeaker lines and an input for a backup amplifier, guaranteeing continuity even in the event of failure.

Yet, the true power of the system lies in its expansion capability: each IF-7P4ETH/0 can be extended with up to 10 IF-7P4/0E slave units, each contributing four additional slots for power modules. This means a single master interface can manage up to 44 power modules, offering unprecedented scalability in the market.

And the architecture extends further. As a network element, each IF-7P4ETH/0 can be connected via Ethernet to up to 19 other units (whether digital audio matrices, central control microphone consoles, or audio interfaces with or without power), forming distributed systems capable of covering the most extensive and complex installations. This architecture stands out for its flexibility to grow while simultaneously maintaining centralised management and system integrity—a rare combination in the sector.

Real Solutions for Demanding Environments

Consider a university complex with multiple faculties, residences, libraries, and sports areas distributed over a campus spanning several hectares. Each building has distinct needs: classrooms require moderate coverage, common areas need higher power, and residences demand specific zoning to prevent interference. With the IFP solution, each building can have its own IF-7P4ETH/0, equipped according to its exact needs, while centralised management from a single control room allows staff to broadcast general messages across the entire campus or segment messages by zone.

Alternatively, consider a high-level hospital complex with multiple specialised wings: emergency rooms, operating theatres, inpatient wards, administrative buildings, and research areas. Voice communication must be clear and specific: general announcements in public areas, localised messages in clinical zones, and differentiated emergency alerts based on the incident type. The IFP modular architecture allows each building to be configured with the necessary power and number of zones, maintaining full interoperability and unified management from a single point.

In a tourist resort featuring a main hotel, independent villas, restaurants, a spa, sports facilities, and beach areas, the need for communication is constant but diverse: ambient music in leisure areas, operational announcements in service areas, and safety messages in risk zones. The IFP solution allows interfaces to be deployed in every area, configured with the appropriate power modules, and centrally managed from a single platform, facilitating both day-to-day operation and emergency response.

Technology Built to Last

Beyond scalability, the IFP system is designed to meet the most stringent technical standards. The dual redundant Ethernet connection ensures continuity against network failures. SIP protocol (RFC3261) with G.711, G.722, and L16 encoding guarantees compatibility with existing VoIP infrastructures. Configurable contact inputs and outputs enable seamless integration with centralised management systems, BMS, fire prevention systems, or SCADA platforms.

Furthermore, continuous supervision of loudspeaker lines, power modules, and audio signals guarantees that any anomaly is detected immediately, allowing for preventative intervention before service is affected.

A Genuine Competitive Advantage

When integrators approach large-scale projects, they quickly discover the limitations of conventional solutions. These often involve systems that require multiplying uncoordinated equipment, closed architectures that hit a scalability wall, or platforms that lose management capacity as they expand.

The OPTIMUS IFP solution breaks these barriers. It is not just modularity; it is intelligent scalability, where every component maintains its individual functionality but integrates perfectly into the whole. It provides unified management for installations that other manufacturers can only tackle with fragmented systems.

Natural Evolution, Open Architecture

At OPTIMUS, we design systems that do not limit project growth. The IFP solution is part of our family of large-scale Public Address and Voice Alarm systems (COMPACT and OPTIMAX), resulting from years of experience in major installations where flexibility, reliability, and ease of management are just as critical as technical performance.

Because large projects do not need huge complications. They require intelligent architectures that grow with them, adapt to their unique characteristics, and offer total control without sacrificing operational ease of use.

And that is exactly what the IFP solution delivers: unbounded scalability, uncompromised adaptability, and flawless performance—a capability that positions us in a category of our own within the sector.
