The COMPACT system in the new facilities of the historic railway complex from 1928

The Canfranc International station is part of railway history by joining, in 1928, Spain and France through the Somport border tunnel, in the Pyrenees, opening up new mobility possibilities for people and goods. Since the two countries had different track gauges, at that time both passengers and goods had to transfer from one side to the other if they wanted to continue their journey, and they had all the necessary services at their disposal: ticket offices, currency exchange office, customs, police stations, post office, hotel ... among many other things. The dimensions of the station are impressive: 241 meters long, 12 wide, 365 windows –one for each day of the year–, and 75 doors on each side. The recent remodelling affects the historic building (the International Station), the railway line and the new passenger station. The public address and voice alarm system, with 2000 W RMS of power and various types of sound points, including A-225EN ceiling loudspeakers and SP-20EN acoustic projectors with IP66 degree of protection, is controlled by a COMPACT audio matrix and a public address server. All elements are EN 54 certified.
