A comprehensive redevelopment
In early 2024, the centre began shifting away from its traditional retail concept. Spanning nearly 17,000 m², the facility required a communication system capable of managing multiple distinct zones: retail units, perimeter parking, dining areas, and technical spaces. The renovation of the car park, completed in late 2025, was particularly demanding, requiring PA systems that guarantee continuous monitoring of both loudspeaker lines and amplifiers.
A system tailored to the Project
For this project, OPTIMUS supplied a solution based on the COMPACT modular audio matrix, specifically designed for the zoned management requirements of large-scale retail installations.
The system’s core is a COMPACT matrix utilising UMX-2SA cards. These provide two balanced transformer-isolated outputs with independent volume, bass, and treble controls, accessible via the front panel or remotely. These cards act as the system’s supervised source, continuously monitoring the status of loudspeaker lines and amplifiers. This ensures that any fault is immediately flagged via output contacts, allowing for preventive maintenance before service is impacted.
The signal processed by these cards feeds the UMX-MC6 units, which serve as the distribution hub for the six loudspeaker sub-zones defined in the project. This setup allows for both master and area-specific volume control. To ensure maximum safety during broadcasts, the system logic automatically overrides local attenuators during an active alert. This guarantees that emergency messages maintain absolute priority over all other signals, bypassing local settings to ensure audibility throughout the premises.
Amplification is handled by a DA-500D4 Class D unit, EN 54 certified, delivering a total output of 2000 W RMS (four 500 W channels). This solution features built-in protection against peaks, short circuits, and overloading, ensuring total reliability for mission-critical installations.
Operational control is managed via a DC-700ETH/T IP-linked touchscreen console. This 7-inch unit enables live streaming, activation of pre-recorded messages, and background music management. Configured as a fireman's microphone station in accordance with EN 54 standards, it ensures authorised personnel have total system control during an emergency.
The acoustic distribution is completed by a network of 75 EN 54 certified loudspeakers, strategically positioned to cover everything from interior retail zones to outdoor gardens. It is a solution precisely scaled to meet the acoustic demands of every corner of the complex.

The Sexta Shopping Centre project demonstrates how a correctly specified system meets the rigorous demands of modern retail: secure zoning, continuous EN 54 certified supervision, IP-integrated control, and robust amplification.
Every element has been engineered for years of trouble-free operation, adapting as the commercial space evolves and providing Lesix with a communication infrastructure that matches its new brand identity.
