The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) is a new Montreal light rail network with 26 stations that covers the metropolitan area with a total of 67 km of tracks that are added to the existing 71 km. It is one of the safest metro networks in the world, fully automated and 100% electric, with driverless trains, directed by a control centre that ensures the functioning of equipment at all times, and platforms protected by screen doors that only open after the train has arrived, preventing user access to the tracks. For the intercommunication of the information points located on the platforms and in other areas of the stations, robust equipment from the manufacturer J&R is used, all with a very high degree of protection (IP67) against contact, external agents and water, and also against acts of vandalism (IK10). They are intercoms that use the SIP-compatible protocol, from the simplest JR101-CB and JR103-CB, equipped with a headset that makes calls only by picking it up, to the most sophisticated JR101-FK that includes a full keyboard to call any number. In total, more than 300 units have been supplied, the vast majority with additional accessibility elements such as an induction loop or braille text.
