The historic Vallehermoso Stadium, located in Madrid’s Chamberí district, was originally inaugurated in 1961 and completely rebuilt between 2017 and 2019. The new venue, designed by architect Alfonso Cano, has become an international reference for athletics, with a capacity of 10,000 spectators and a main track with eight lanes and green tartan — a unique feature that reinforces its identity as a “green heart” within Madrid’s urban fabric. It also includes an elevated and covered warm-up track above the north stand, allowing athletes to train in adverse conditions such as rain or cold weather.
The public address and voice alarm system supplied by OPTIMUS, certified according to EN 54 standards, is based on a COMPACT control unit, DA-500D4 power amplifiers, and DC-700ETH and MD-30C microphone consoles. The sound points include ceiling loudspeakers for offices and various types of acoustic projectors and exponential loudspeakers — both capable of delivering high sound pressure levels (SPL) with low power and excellent speech intelligibility — distributed throughout the sports complex.
The installation is completed with induction loop systems for hearing-impaired users and KB-10F signage kits in the accessible restrooms, reinforcing the stadium’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
