Cutting-edge public address system for a unique environment
Inaugurated in 1892 and spanning 13 hectares, Barcelona Zoo is home to one of the most extensive wildlife collections in Europe and is a benchmark in conservation, education, and animal welfare.
To enhance communication within the park and ensure the broadcast of messages and alerts in case of fire, the new public address and voice alarm system was put into operation on 4 March 2025. The installation consists of 19 COMPACT LITE units strategically distributed throughout the zoo. Thanks to this system, scheduled messages and announcements are delivered flawlessly and accurately, ensuring that information reaches every corner of the park, regardless of background noise or visitor numbers. This type of installation is crucial for maintaining safety in open spaces and managing emergencies in high-traffic public areas.
For a seamless and centralised management experience, the system includes a DT-700ETH microphone and the Call Point software, facilitating the broadcasting and scheduling of automated messages. The loudspeakers used are outdoor exponential models, guaranteeing powerful, intelligible, and crystal-clear sound across the zoo, even in adverse weather conditions.
COMPACT LITE: state-of-the-art technology for the zoo’s safety
OPTIMUS' COMPACT LITE is a comprehensive public address and voice evacuation solution designed to adapt to all kinds of spaces. In this case, it has been implemented in a zoo, but it is equally suitable for parks, markets, and other open-air environments. Each unit features two 460 W RMS amplifiers, a built-in battery charger, and the capacity to manage up to eight speaker zones per device, ensuring complete coverage of the area.
This system not only enables real-time announcements and pre-recorded messages but also offers IP connectivity, redundant audio inputs, and continuous monitoring of all components.
