OPTIMUS has supplied induction loop systems for every auditorium across two Yelmo Cines complexes in Madrid (La Vaguada and Islazul), combined with PA and voice alarm systems for day-to-day venue operation. Yelmo is one of Spain's biggest cinema chains, and other Yelmo complexes in several cities also feature OPTIMUS equipment.

Induction loops and IEC 60118-4
A magnetic induction loop converts the audio signal into a magnetic field that the hearing aid's T-coil picks up directly. The international IEC 60118-4 standard sets out the magnetic field, coverage uniformity, and frequency response requirements a loop must meet to be effective. In a cinema, the main challenges are the dimensions of the room, metal elements in the structure that attenuate the magnetic field, and the range of auditorium sizes within a single complex.

Yelmo La Vaguada
The complex has eight auditoriums equipped with dual-loop (phased array) amplifiers, which generate a uniform magnetic field and compensate for metal attenuation: 6 amplifiers for medium-sized auditoriums and 2 for the larger ones. The box office also has a counter induction loop unit with built-in amplifier, microphone, and induction pad, so ticket sales are accessible too.
The PA and voice alarm system is built around the Compact modular audio matrix, with 1,000 W RMS of power and a management control console. Loudspeaker distribution combines recessed speakers, cabinet speakers, and sound projectors. Some sound projectors were supplied painted in RAL 9005 to blend in visually where the standard white finish didn't suit the room's colour scheme.

Yelmo Islazul
Twelve auditoriums with induction loops, combining single-loop and dual-loop amplifiers depending on the conditions in each one: 5 single-loop amplifiers (for auditoriums where a single perimeter loop is enough) and 8 dual-loop amplifiers (for larger auditoriums or those with more metal in the structure), in different sizes to match the dimensions of each auditorium. The PA system uses the all-in-one Compact LITE, complemented by sound projectors painted in RAL 9005 to blend in visually.

End-to-end accessibility
Both installations are designed to the magnetic field, coverage uniformity, and frequency response parameters set out in IEC 60118-4. OPTIMUS offers hearing accessibility solutions for all kinds of spaces, including cinemas, service counters, entrances and refuge areas, reception desks and points of sale. Combined with EN 54-certified PA and voice alarm systems, they form a comprehensive offering covering everything from the venue's day-to-day operation to full accessibility for every user.
