A new rail link to AIFA

The Felipe Ángeles Train, inaugurated on 26 April 2026 by President Claudia Sheinbaum, connects Buenavista station in central Mexico City with the AIFA-Clara Krause terminal at Felipe Ángeles International Airport. The corridor spans 41 kilometres across eight stations, with estimated demand of 57,000 passengers a day and capacity for more than 80,000. Construction was carried out by SEDENA (Mexico's Ministry of National Defence) and forms the first phase of a planned extension all the way to Pachuca, in the state of Hidalgo.

PA that adapts to changing noise levels

In a railway station, ambient noise is in constant flux. An empty station off-peak can sit below 50 dB(A); the same station with a train pulling in and hundreds of passengers on the platform can climb above 85 dB(A) within seconds. Keeping the message intelligible at both extremes calls for an architecture that automatically adjusts the volume to match the real noise level at any given moment. On top of that, the operation itself works on multiple levels: live local announcements, central announcements for the whole line, shared background music feeds, and emergency protocols coordinated with the rest of the infrastructure's safety subsystems.

OPTIMAX3: arquitectura distribuida con adaptación dinámica al ruido

We've supplied OPTIMAX3 platform equipment for all eight stations on the Lechería–AIFA branch. Each station has two IF-8P4ETH/0 units, one per platform, which combine audio matrix, amplification, and IP connectivity in a single piece of kit. The system features 45 NS-CAN noise sensors distributed across the stations, which measure ambient levels in real time and automatically adjust audio volume in each zone, keeping the sound pressure level of announcements consistently above the background noise so messages stay intelligible.

Centralised control is handled from three DT-800ETH touchscreen control consoles, networked over IP, while each station has a local MD-30C panel for live service announcements. Local audio integration at each station — background music, pre-recorded messages, information broadcasts — is handled by IF-PIA4 cards. Loudspeaker distribution is rounded out by 376 BS-30BHQ cabinet speakers across platforms and waiting areas, 56 A-256MHQ flush-mounted ceiling speakers in concourses, and 70 C-660A column loudspeakers in areas with complex geometry.

OPTIMUS in international rail transport

The Felipe Ángeles Train is the latest project in OPTIMUS's track record in international rail, which includes the RK line in Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit, the Lima and Callao Metro, Montreal's Réseau express métropolitain, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, and, more recently, the Bangkok MRT Orange Line.
